PHP & MySQLmy skills |
I am a big fan of open source technology, mainly because it has allowed me to enter the computer world without having to invest funds I did not have. However, most of my career soo far has been focused on building productivity/managment software for SME's, hence, 99% of my potential contracts would relate to Windows based systems. I have developed in my early stages a number of small web application using PHP with a MySQL back-end database. However, I am a bit rusty but I can get back to good productivity quickly.
I have mainly used PHP for past projects. I have used NetBeans and PSPad as IDE. I am certainly a fan of open source projects, however, PHP would not be one of my favourites. I feel the syntax a bit heavy to write and read, but that could be mainly due to the IDE I have used.
However, the first version of the Cloud-Based Licensing Software I wrote for Envisage Cloud was written in PHP using MySQL as the back end database.
I used MySQL extensively a few years ago, when SQL Express or other free DB engines were not that common. In fact, I first learned about relational databases and database engines with MySQL.
Furtermore, the SQL used is pretty much the same as used in MSQL or Oracle databases, which makes it easy for me to use.
I would normally have used MySQL via the phpMySQLAdmin platform, however, I have also worked with local installations of MySQL using 3rd party management tools.
